Should you choose a smaller gym? Let us help you decide!

The size of fitness studio that will suit your needs depends on what you’re looking for in a visit to the gym, because the feeling you get when walking into a smaller gym in comparison to setting foot in a larger one is often totally different.

We’re proud be a local gym in Lancaster, and we’d like to share with you the perks of belonging to a smaller fitness studio like ours, because we think there are quite a few!

The sense of community.

If you choose to join a smaller gym you’re probably looking for something different to having access to numerous different machines and 24/7 opening hours.

Belonging to a smaller gym is different. If you want it to be, it can be like belonging to a tight-knit community of like-minded people.

A smaller gym means smaller membership numbers and smaller class sizes, so you can get to know your fellow members and fitness instructors on a more personal level. We like to foster a sense of community in our own studio, and get to know all of our members by name. We also make the effort to introduce our members to each other during classes.

Having our members ask after others when they’re not around is something we see on a regular basis, and we’re really proud to have created an environment where this happens.

More 1-2-1 attention.

Going to smaller classes has its perks too. By nature, smaller gyms will have smaller membership numbers and probably less space, so their classes have to be small. This can lead to some great advantages for you.

When there are less of you, your fitness instructor can focus on you all individually, ensuring that you’re executing the exercises correctly and safely to achieve those all important results!

And if you’re flagging, they can offer you that extra bit of motivation that you need to keep going.

The social side of things.

Being fit and healthy doesn’t mean being miserable – in fact, it should mean the opposite! We believe that the social side of attending your gym is just as important as doing the exercise itself.

Exercise can and should be fun, and what could make it more enjoyable than being around friends. Meeting people at the gym gives you the opportunity to mix with other people with similar interests to you and become part of a whole new social circle.

We can’t speak for all other small fitness providers, but we often hold social events for our members that aren’t just centred around exercise. The occasional social gives us all the opportunity to have fun and relax outside of the studio.

So, are you ready to try something new?

If you find you enjoy your experience in a new gym environment that’s different to what you’re used to, you’ll keep coming back for more. Perks for your fitness levels and for your social life!
